April 9, 585 BC — Emperor Jimmu died, considered by Japanese tradition to be the first founding emperor of the imperial house of Japan.
April 9, 193 — Septimius Severus (b. 146-d. 211), is proclaimed emperor at Carnuntum by the legions from the Danube, upon the news of the assassination of Pertinax and the election of Didius Iulianus. After the death of Didius Iulianus, he is recognized by the senate of Rome.
